LOMITA, Los Angeles County — October 25, 2026. Lomita residents have an opportunity to participate in local transportation planning before Halloween festivities on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The city’s official calendar lists a Local Travel Network Community Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lomita Park Tom Rico Center / Marc Fosnaugh Gym, 24428 Eshelman Avenue. A separate event, Curse of the Red Caboose, is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Lomita Railroad Museum, 2137 250th Street.

Why residents should attend the travel workshop

The workshop is advertised as part of the city’s Local Travel Network process. Residents interested in safer local routes, access between neighborhoods and public facilities, walking or cycling connections can consult the latest city materials and learn how to provide input. The event listing does not establish that a specific path, bike lane, roadway redesign or spending decision has already been approved.

The city lists a Parks and Recreation Commission meeting Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lomita City Hall, 24300 Narbonne Avenue. This is a separate meeting, and the commission’s agenda should be consulted before assuming a particular park or festival topic will be discussed.

Other current local development work

The October 16 city-manager report describes planning for the former Navy Fields site, proposed design of the future Lomita Sports and Community Center, City Hall second-floor changes and continued attention to Lomita Boulevard median landscaping. A recommendation prepared for the October 20 Council meeting is not proof that the Council approved it or that construction has started.

The same report says the city is undertaking geotechnical work along the Palos Verdes Drive North hillside near Harbor Hills to evaluate stability and water-related risks. A study is not an evacuation warning or proof that a road is unsafe; residents should check official hazard notices before changing travel arrangements.

How to follow future decisions

The city’s public notices page includes a bid notice for Zone G street reconstruction phases 3 and 4, with a stated November 23, 1 p.m. deadline. Businesses should consult the bidding documents for eligibility and amendments. Lomita City Hall can be reached at (310) 325-7110.

Lomita News welcomes local corrections and verified updates on the travel workshop and public projects.
